Top 5 winners for professional traders in 2025
Best broker for professional traders – Interactive Brokers
Interactive Brokers (NASDAQ: IBKR) holds the number one spot for professionals in 2025. It offers a growing selection of specialty in-house trading platforms, a wide range of markets, low trading costs, and advanced trading tools for sophisticated traders and professional investors.
Access to a wide variety of complex order types and the ability to perform advanced technical analysis from its vast selection of indicators (including custom indicators that you can code) makes IBKR’s Trader Workstation (TWS) platform a powerhouse. The only downside is that it's the most complex trading platform I’ve ever tested, and it requires practice and patience to navigate. That said, once you master how to use the platform, you gain access to an almost endless variety of features and tools, including dedicated forex layouts and the ability to trade various currency pairs. You can even settle trades in other currency denominations.
Active traders and high-volume professional investors can also access deeper discounts through IBKR’s tiered pricing program, depending on your monthly trading volumes. While IBKR doesn't offer market-maker execution, its agency-execution model should meet the needs of most professional traders, as it combines low spreads with a low per-trade commission. The only downside is if you are trading less than a standard lot (100,000 units) the minimum per trade commission can make IBKR expensive.
Otherwise, IBKR's all-in costs (spreads plus per-trade commission) are among the lowest in the industry. This combination of competitive pricing and active trader discounts, wide selection of markets, and platforms with advanced trading tools helps solidify IBKR's top ranking in this category.

Saxo has an award-winning platform suite, which includes SaxoTraderGO for web and mobile, and SaxoTraderPRO for desktop. Saxo’s platform suite stands outs out for its ultra-modern minimalist design, but it still packs plenty of complexity under the surface, blending an intuitive platform experience with the functionality and tools that professional traders expect from the best brokers.
Saxo also offers high-quality research with global market analysis from its in-house team and headlines from top-tier news sources. Traders gain access to sophisticated order types and order management, allowing you to switch instrument types directly from within the same trade ticket. For instance, if you are trading the EUR/USD but want to quickly switch to trading forex options, you can do that with just a few clicks within the same trade ticket window.
While its minimum commission could be a factor for budget traders, if you trade over 100,000 units (one standard lot), Saxo provides transparent pricing and is capable of handling large orders for the most active traders. Furthermore, if you have a larger account, Saxo’s VIP and Platinum accounts offer additional discounts on forex spreads.

CMC Markets (LON: CMCX) offers a consistently low average spread across account types. Its FX Active account features ultra-low spreads and a low per-trade commission, making it excellent for professional traders and investors.
CMC Markets also has an excellent platform suite. Its web-based NextGeneration app, which is also available for mobile, has a modern feel and and offers advanced features like integrated chart patterns for advanced technical analysis within its robust charting package. I like that you can easily sort through over 10,000 symbols to trade across global markets, including forex and CFDs. CMC Markets also quotes currency pairs both ways, so you can trade EUR/USD or the USD/EUR, which will have an inverse price and view on a chart.
In addition to complex order types and Guaranteed Stop-Loss Orders (GSLOs) for an added premium, CMC Markets also delivers a good balance of quality market research and news headlines from top-tier publications. Furthermore, in addition to having the best effective spreads based on our testing, its active trader program can discount your trading costs even more, which is an attractive feature for high-volume professional traders.
