Fees

Pepperstone offers better value for traders who want low-cost forex and CFD pricing, especially on its Razor account. That account uses a commission-based setup and, as of July 2024, showed an average EUR/USD spread of 0.10 pips, which works out to about 0.80 pips all-in after commission. Its Standard account is commission-free, but the average EUR/USD spread was 1.1 pips, making it the pricier choice overall. Pepperstone also has an Active Trader program that can lower costs further for high-volume clients through spread rebates. Pepperstone earns 5 stars and ranks #6 out of 36 for commissions and fees.

Trading 212 markets its CFD account as zero-commission, but traders still pay the spread, which is where the real cost shows up. In April 2025, its average EUR/USD spread was 2.7 pips, well above the industry average and much higher than Pepperstone’s pricing. Trading 212 has started publishing average spread data, which is helpful for transparency, but its costs still make it less competitive for active forex and CFD traders. Trading 212 earns 4 stars and ranks #27 out of 36 for commissions and fees.

In simple terms, Pepperstone is the cheaper pick for most forex and CFD traders, especially if you use the Razor account or qualify for Active Trader discounts. Trading 212 may appeal to those who prefer a commission-free message, but its wider spreads can make trading more expensive in practice.
